Go To Hear: music platform website and UI/UX design

Go To Hear wanted to offer independent musicians a different relationship with music streaming. My job was to help that proposition feel credible, understandable and approachable through its brand, marketing website and product interface.

The challenge: earn trust before asking people to switch

The platform brought streaming, music sales, fan tipping and a reward system into one experience. Artists and listeners already had established habits, so a new platform needed to explain why it deserved their attention. Across the 2020–2023 engagement, I worked on brand identity, website and landing-page design, product UI/UX, social assets and front-end development.

Listening before designing

I reviewed other streaming services and spoke with the client and musicians about the information that mattered to them. Questions about earnings, visibility and trust influenced the messaging and the order in which information appeared. The aim was to communicate the platform’s artist-focused proposition before overwhelming visitors with features.

Familiar journeys with a distinct identity

I used recognisable player controls, browsing patterns and profile layouts to reduce the learning involved in trying a new service. Dark backgrounds let album artwork and artist photography take the lead. Colour, typography and consistent branding gave the website and product their own identity without making everyday actions harder to find.

The work and its current status

The deliverables included the brand, marketing website, landing page, product UI, social graphics and front-end code using PHP, CSS and JavaScript. The project was completed within its budget and timeline. The platform is currently on hold, and formal performance results are not available.

What this means for your website

A good website helps people feel confident about taking the next step. For a new business or service, that means explaining the difference clearly while keeping navigation and interactions comfortable. It is an approach I bring to business websites as well as more complex digital products.
